The first point of contact for general questions about studying at the UvA is the Central Student Service Desk. Contact us if you have questions about your choice of study programme, enrolment, student grants and loans, living accommodations, studying abroad and much more.

Student counsellors can help you with practical, personal, financial, facilities, enrolment, financial matters, grants, appeals, and study-related problems. You can contact a Student counsellor if you’re studying with a disability, or if you’re studying as a top-class athlete.
Student counsellors also offer workshops and training courses for improving your study skills.

Should you experience a lack of motivation or focus, or other personal issues such as anxiety or culture shock, you may wish to consult the UvA Student psychologists. In addition to individual counselling, the Student psychologists provide particular groups, workshops and training.

The career advisers of the UvA Student Careers Centre can help you find out what you want from life after your studies, and how to make career choices. We help you get insight into your capabilities and competencies, and improve your job application skills to achieve your career goals.
International Student Affairs Office (BIS) is the central international office of the UvA that deals with studying abroad, including the Global Exchange Program.
Here you will find expert advice, workshops and information about the exchange programmes with renowned universities as well as about the opportunities for a short stay, internship and research abroad.
Also, BIS has set up an award-winning programme for students with international experience: the Exchange Ambassadors Programme.
The UvA offers a housing service to international first-year Bachelor’s and Master’s students, and and exchange students (short stay), as well as to international PhDs and other UvA staff (long stay). The central Housing department is part of Student Services.
New international students are assisted in arranging official procedures for residence permits and other practical matters by the Immigration team at Student Services.
Student Services provides all kinds of workshops and trainings on study skills, career development, studying abroad, study choice and psychological support. Student Services also organises and contributes to numerous annual UvA events.
