In forensic settings, women are often diagnosed with BPD and men with ASPD, though this may not accurately reflect reality. Women may exhibit ASPD symptoms in a way that aligns with stereotypical BPD traits, while men may present BPD symptoms that resemble ASPD. This contributes to the overdiagnosis of ASPD in men and BPD in women, leading to ineffective treatment and worsening mental health outcomes. Gaining a more accurate diagnostic understanding is essential to reduce misdiagnosis and ensure appropriate treatment. Therefore, this research examines gender differences in the symptomatology of BPD and ASPD within the AMPD framework.
