Studying with a disability

Digital accessibility

Not all of the digital information of the UvA/AUAS is fully accessible for people with a disability. In particular web applications that have been in use for some time require a lot of investment to improve them. We are working on this and in the coming years more and more web applications will comply with the web content accessibility guidelines.

What can students expect?

The information provision from UvA/AUAS for students must comply with level AA of the web content accessibility guidelines. This means among other things that all students can work with screen readers, that care has been taken regarding colour contrast, and that video content must be subtitled. These guidelines apply to websites and also web applications and manuals. More information about the web content accessibility guidelines can be found on the website of the Accessibility foundation (in Dutch).

What can employees expect?

The information provision for employees with a disability must also comply with level AA of the guidelines. Here again there are still some web applications that are not fully compliant. The priority is to update those (parts of) web applications that are meant for all employees.
