What is your study programme?

Re-enrolment, different deadlines, exemptions

  • To switch to a different study programme, enrol in your new programme through StudielinkExternal link (starting in the first year). If you’ve already studied at the UvA, you can enrol in a different degree programme until 31 August.
  • Master’s programmes are subject to different deadlines. Check the UvA Master’s websiteExternal link for the deadlines and Master’s admission procedures.
  • You may sometimes be exempted from the first-year courses of your new study programme, naturally depending on the courses that you passed in your previous programme. If you’d like to be eligible for this, you must submit an exemption request to the Examinations Board of your new degree programme. This requires you to be actively enrolled in your new degree programme.
  • You can arrange all your enrolments and terminations of enrolment through StudielinkExternal link.

Non-EU student?

  • If you’re a non-EU student with a residence permit for study purposes, you must obtain at least 50% of the credits for the current academic year in order to retain your residence permit and to be able to switch to a different study programme. You can find more information on the Study progress monitoring pageExternal link.
  • You can arrange your enrolment in your new study programme through StudielinkExternal link. You don’t need to terminate your enrolment in your previous study programme until you start your new programme. You can also terminate your enrolment now, but in that case you’ll need to apply for a residence permit again.

Switching to selective Bachelor’s programmes

  • The UvA has a number of selective Bachelor’s programmes for which you will need to go through a selection procedure. Compared to other Bachelor’s programmes, these programmes have an earlier enrolment deadline. This is in order to allow sufficient time for the selection procedure.
  • You can read more on the page about the selective Bachelor’s programmesExternal link, the selection procedure and the enrolment deadlines.
