To optimize your connection to the UvA networks ‘eduroam’ and ‘uva’ you have to download software. The software Secure W2 configures your device automatically in order to guarantee a safe connection to the UvA networks.

In principle, any system with software for safety protocol 802.1x/TTLS (pap) or 802.1x/PEAP (mschapv2) can connect wirelessly to 'eduroam' or 'UvA'.

The ‘UvA Open Wi-Fi’ network is an unsecured network provided for visitors without an UvA-net ID or who do not work for an educational institute with access to the ‘eduroam’ wireless network. Open Wi-Fi is not as fast as ‘eduroam’ and requires users to log with each use. It is best to always use the ‘eduroam’ wireless network, which is faster and more secure.
