Talk to your study adviser

Your study adviser can advise you on alternative study programmes and continuing your studies.

Get help choosing a new study programme

Meet with a UvA study choice adviser, who can help you to choose a new study programme. They'll assess your personal qualities and circumstances, and provide independent advice. They can also provide a useful step-by-step plan to help you make your own study choice.

Enrolling in a new degree programme

If you've received a negative BSA, you can still register in Studielink for a new Bachelor's programme after the 1 May deadline. Exceptions to this include study programmes with enrolment restrictions and study programmes for which the first year is the same (or mostly the same).  For an overview, check your study programme's information about the binding study advice. You can enrol as soon as you expect to receive a negative BSA. Read more about switching to a study programme with a different first year.

Non-EU student?

If you're a student from outside the EU, with a residence permit, special rules apply. To find out more, see: Switching to a study programme with a different first year.

Applying for a deferral or dispensation in case of exceptional personal circumstances

If you're unable to meet the BSA standard because of exceptional personal circumstances, you may be able to request a deferral or dispensation from the BSA. This is subject to conditions. One of the conditions is that you reported these personal circumstances to the study adviser when they first arose.
