Course registration takes place about two months before the start of each semester. To participate in a course, you first have to be placed in it.

Course registration dates

Semester 1

The course registration for semester 1 of the 2026-2027 academic year is from Monday, 8 June until Monday, 15 June, 13:00.

Register at any time during this period (it doesn't matter when).
Your spot in required courses is guaranteed provided you register during this period.

Semester 2

Course registration for semester 2 of the 2026-2027 academic year is from 30 November to 7 December 2026, 13:00.

Programme-specific information

Preparation

In the Course Catalogue you can see which compulsory courses you're taking next semester. You can also find information about the contents of elective courses. Taking electives gives you the opportunity to tailor your studies to your interests.

Check your study programme's rules about which electives you can or cannot take.
In some cases, you must request permission from the Examinations Board to add a particular course to your curriculum. Apply for permission well ahead of time. (Note: getting permission isn't equivalent to getting a spot in the course).
Always check the general timetableExternal link before you register for the course in order to avoid scheduling conflicts.

As soon as you know which courses you want to take, you can save them in the course registration app. You can even do this before course registration starts. When the course registration period opens, all you'll have to do is confirm your registration in each course.

Find the course in the Course Catalogue and select 'Add to course registration'. You'll automatically be redirected to course registration app. Log in with your UvAnetID. The course will now appear in your course overview.
Alternative: You can add courses directly into the course registration app by entering the course number found in the Course Catalogue.
Repeat these steps for each course you want to take.

Your courses are now ready to be added as soon as the course registration opens

You must be enrolled (or re-enrolled) in a programme to register for courses.

Not yet enrolled? Go to Studielink and submit an enrolment requestExternal link.
After submitting the request, it can take up to 48 hours before you can register for your courses.

If you've switched from a Bachelor's to a Master's programme, or if you previously terminated your enrolment, you'll also have to enrol. Read more about enrolling, re-enrolling or re-enrolling after a study break.

How do I register?

You can skip this step if you saved your courses in the course registration app ahead of time.

Here's how to add your courses to the app:

Find the course you want in the Course Catalogue and select 'Add to course registration'. You'll be redirected to the app automatically. Log in with your UvAnetID. The course will now appear in your course overview.
Alternative: you can also add courses directly in the app by entering the course number. Course numbers are listed in the Course Catalogue.
Repeat this for all the courses you want to take.

Has the course registration period begun? A pop-up window will appear in the course registration app with the message that the course you've selected is open for course registration.

Select 'Add to course registration'.
Your course will appear in the column 'Registration pending'.
Do this for each course.

Registering for a course does not automatically mean you will be placed. For popular courses, there may be more applications than available places. Read how placement in courses and study groups works.

Are you placed for a course? Then you are automatically registered for the corresponding exams and resits.

Deregister from courses you don't want

By deregistering as soon as possible, you'll give another student a chance to take the course. Log in to the course registration app and select the course. A window will open with a button to deregister. Do this no later than 14 days after the start of the period, otherwise you'll get a mention of 'non-attendance, counted as an exam attempt' (NAP).

Post-registration

Didn't get into an elective you wanted? You can register for a different elective during post-registration from Monday, 22 June in the morning until Monday, 29 June at 13:00. There's no placement guarantee.

Late course registration

If you'd like to make a change to your course lineup, this is your last chance. Late course registration is from Monday, 17 August in the morning until Monday, 24 August 2026 at 13:00 and from Monday, 19 October in the morning until Monday, 26 October at 13:00 (periods 2 and 3). There's no placement guarantee.

Swapping tutorials

You may be able to change your tutorial group for some courses. Submit a request in the course registration app up to one week before the start of the course period for courses where this is possible. But don't wait too long: the sooner you submit your request, the better your chances.
