Changing your UvAnetID password

You can change your UvAnetID password at any time. Remember, however, that you will have to re-enter your new password wherever it is used.

Step-by-step instructions

A strong password has at least 12 characters! Be sure to read the other tips for a strong password.

New password does not work

If your new UvAnetID password does not work straight away, try logging in again with your new password after half an hour and go through all the steps again.

If you still cannot log in, please contact the ICTS Service Desk.

Change your password annually

In order to ensure safe digital working, all UvA students and staff must change their UvAnetID password annually (or more often if necessary).

You will automatically receive an email (+ a reminder) when you need to change your password. If you fail to act on this email, your password will automatically expire and your UvAnetID account will be temporarily blocked. As soon as you change your password, the block will be removed and you will be able to use your UvAnetID once again.
