What is your study programme?

You can use the card to identify yourself, borrow books in the library, gain access to bicycle parking facilities and parking garages, and pay for things.

When can I apply for my student ID card?

You can apply for your student ID card one month before the start of your studies at the UvA. You will need a UvAnetID in order to submit your application. Go to mijnuvapas.nlExternal link to upload a passport photo for your student ID card. This can prove difficult on a tablet or mobile phone, so please make sure to use a laptop or desktop computer.

Applying for your student ID card does not necessarily mean you have finalised your enrolment. Always check the status of your enrolment in SISExternal link.

Is your name spelled correctly?

Facility Services will use the information in SISExternal link to create your student ID card: your official name and surname. Has your name been recorded incorrectly in SIS? Make sure to have this adjusted before you apply for a student ID card. You can always change your first name in StudielinkExternal link under <Details>. If you do not have a Studielink account or would like to adjust your surname, send a request and a copy of your passport to the Digital Student Service Desk

When will you receive your Student ID card?

Make sure to apply for your student ID card on time. If you will be starting your studies in September and applied for your student ID card before 3 September, you will receive your card at your home address. If you have not received your student ID card by 14 September, please drop by one of the service points or contact the Facility Services Service Desk.

Are you starting your studies in February? In that case, you will receive your student ID card by 3 February at the latest. If you have not received your card by 8 February, please drop by one of the service points or contact the Facility Services Service Desk.

Did you apply for your student ID card later than 3 September or 3 February? In that case, an email will be sent to your UvA mail address (not your personal email!) to let you know when you can pick up your new student ID card at one of our service points. This process requires a valid identity document. In case you registered a Dutch address your card will be sent to your Dutch address.

For international students

Did you provide a foreign address? In that case, an email will be sent to your UvA mail address (not your personal email!) to let you know when you can pick up your new student ID card at one of our service points.
