Study associations

Study associations versus student associations: what's the difference?

Study associations are affiliated with specific degree programmes. They provide frameworks to help you successfully complete your studies. Joining can help you become more actively involved in your studies. You will also have the opportunity to meet fellow students from different years. Study associations can be very sociable and lively, even though they devote attention to academics.

Student associations on the other hand, mainly focus on social activities. You'll meet students from different degree programmes.

Study associations and the GDPR

Guidelines for managing personal data have been drawn up, based on questions the study associations had about the EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR): UvA study associations and the GDPR (pdf) (in Dutch).
