The H.O.R.S.External link Amsterdam Student Riding Association (‘Amsterdamsche Studenten Rijvereeniging H.O.R.S.’) was founded in 1911. Its female counterpart, the Amsterdamsche Vrouwelijke Studenten Rij Vereeniging AMAZONEN, was established in 1933. The two associations merged to form a.s.r. H.O.R.S. in the early 1970s. Its members have been taking dressage lessons at the Hollandsche Manege at Amsterdam's Vondelpark – the Netherlands' oldest riding school – for over a century. A.s.r. H.O.R.S. has also been offering jumping classes for several years now. There are also various specialised classes, such as ladies equitation class, games lessons and classes where members can invite their family and friends to try their hand at horseback riding. After each lesson, drinks are served in the foyer as part of the 'après-chevaux'.

Sport climbing organisation for all students in Amsterdam. You can expect plenty of social interaction, specialty beers and cake at all our events. ASACExternal link has the honour of climbing in the city with the most climbing and bouldering halls in the Netherlands. The diverse range of climbing halls makes for challenging and exciting climbing experiences. You will get to know most of these climbing walls over the course of the retro period. These evening climbing sessions are mandatory! Novice climbers will have the opportunity to climb under the supervision of experienced ASAC members in September. ASAC strives to train all its members to become safe climbers. We require you to attend these climbing activities so that our instructors can brush up on your skills if necessary. The beginners' course in September is only MANDATORY for inexperienced climbers. This also means that you cannot join ASAC in February if you are still an inexperienced climber! However, you can take a course at one of the many climbing gyms in Amsterdam, such as USC or Klimmuur Centraal, before joining ASAC.

AquilaExternal link organises a recreational running session starting from the Olympic Stadium every Tuesday and Thursday. Students looking to take part in a more advanced training session can join a Phanos training group. The association also aims to introduce students to the world of athletics and get them more closely involved in the sport. Aquila maintains close ties with various organisations (educational institutions, athletic associations, etc.) in order to function optimally. Aquila encourages athletic activity among students in Amsterdam and cultivates interaction between student-athletes. We strive to create an easy-going and sociable atmosphere. We organise teams for various athletics and running events such as the Batavierenrace. Aquila's target group consists of students who actively take part in athletics and those with an interest in the sport. This should be understood in the broadest sense. You do not need to be affiliated with the Royal Dutch Athletics Federation to become a member. Membership is also open to students who only want to participate in training sessions or events and students who are interested in athletics for other reasons.

Amsterdam's student rugby association AscrumExternal link was founded in 1962 as a branch of the A.S.C. Amsterdam student fraternity. Today, we have a total of five teams, and our member base only includes a few fraternity members. We have grown to become one of the Netherlands' largest student rugby associations. We are the only student rugby association to have recently competed at the highest national level and will hopefully be the first students to do so again in future. However, you are also welcome to join us if you are not a highly talented rugby player and do not have any ambitions to compete at the highest national level. Ascrum has teams in the first, second, third and fourth divisions. We also offer a junior year, in which novice rugby players have the opportunity to learn all about the sport and our association. Founded on 22 January 1997, SPONSExternal link is Amsterdam's leading student swimming association dedicated to a shared love of water, fun and sportsmanship. SPONS is both a swimming association and a student association. Our members have the opportunity to train in the pool four times a week and enjoy a glass of wine or beer in our local pub afterwards. The competitions organised by the Dutch Student Swimming Competition (NSZK) offer a perfect mix between swimming and socialising. In the competitions all 11 student swimming associations compete for the title of 'the Netherlands' best student swimming association'. These legendary weekends always start with drinks on Friday evening, followed by a competitive race on Saturday and a great dinner with all the other Dutch student swimming associations. After this, we party into the night. In addition to regular training sessions and competitions, we also organise lots of fun activities, such as the introductory weekend, the winterSPONS event, the annual Christmas dinner, ice skating and a wonderful end-of-the-year party.

Schrobbelaar is affiliated with the USC University Sports Centre. We have a women's team and three men's teams. With a large number of international student members, we mainly communicate in English. We compete across the Netherlands. Last but not least, we organise parties every year where we even drink the occasional glass of Schrobbelaar.

Amsterdams HachieExternal link is a rapidly growing student association. Our members combine their love of gymnastics with fun social activities. STAH offers the opportunity to exercise and socialise with other students while you develop your acrobatic skills. We value socialising just as much as we love gymnastics.
Our up-and-coming association is made up of enthusiastic male and female gymnasts at all skill levels. We compete in student gymnastics competitions alongside the 10 other Dutch student gymnastics associations. These events are very different from the gymnastics competitions you are used to. While gymnastic excellence is still rewarded and participants are assessed by experienced judges, pretty much anything goes at these competitions organised by the National Student Gymnastics Federation (NSTB). We train twice a week at two different locations: Thursday, 18:30 – 20:30, at the Banne Centrum in Amsterdam Noord (Bezaanjachtplein 245) and Sunday, 18:00 – 20:30, at USC Science Park room 2c. We also organise training sessions at the gymnastics hall in Amstelveen every Wednesday. Please feel free to send us a message if you would like more information. You are always welcome to join us for a training session!

US BadmintonExternal link is an association for students and alumni. This is reflected in the atmosphere at our training sessions and the activities we organise besides badminton. Association members have developed many friendships and relationships over the years. About 60 of our 90 or so members play in leagues ranging from the 5th regional league (for beginners with several years of experience) to the 4th national league (advanced players).
