Since Dutch universities do not have their own housing accommodations (as not allowed under Dutch law), the UvA cannot facilitate housing for all incoming international students. Students are ultimately responsible for finding their own accommodation.

Important dates

Fall semester 2026-2027

  • Our housing lottery and room allocation process for students starting their studies in September 2026 is completed; the deadline to apply was 8 June. It is no longer possible to apply for UvA student housing.
  • All our rooms have been allocated to students who successfully participated in the housing lottery. We therefore currently do not have any availability, nor do we have an open waiting list. If you are looking for accommodation, we recommend you check out our website on how to find housing independently.
  • For eligible students who start their studies in the spring semester 2027 (February 2027), we will be holding a separate lottery in October/November 2026. Specific dates and deadlines will be announced on this website later this summer. Students who started their studies in the fall semester (September 2026) will not be eligible to apply.
