Recht & Beleid Clinic
In the Law & Policy Clinic (Recht & Beleid Clinic), Master's students work on structural legal problems that arise in society.
The Law & Policy Clinic works on legal issues that are structurally identified in legal advice centres and assists in setting up strategic procedures that pursue a social interest, it also provides advice that organisations can use to approach authorities to demand policy changes.
Working in the clinic
The work in the clinic consists of projects carried out for clients and NGOs, among others. Students work in teams of 3 to 5 students and receive intensive supervision. Regular meetings between the student, the supervisor and the clients are part of the work. The emphasis is on professionalism, high-quality work, teamwork and respect for confidentiality.
Upcoming projects
In the second semester of 2025-2026, the Law & Policy Clinic will offer the following project:
- A project testing the new Dutch legislative proposals on migration and asylum in the light of EU and international law. This project is open to both international and Dutch students.
Requirements, eligibility and application
The Law & Policy Clinic is normally only open to students of a Dutch Master's programme. However, in the second semester of 2025-2026, students of English-taught Master's programmes can also apply. For this project we are looking for both international and Dutch students who are doing a Master’s relating to international, European or administrative and constitutional law with a keen interest in EU and international law, migration law and/or fundamental rights.
