Frequent international moves can offer children exciting new experiences but they can also disrupt friendships, routines, and a sense of stability. For kids growing up in globally mobile families, these repeated transitions may take a toll on emotional well-being, increasing the risk of anxiety and depression. The present study explores whether strong, supportive parent-child relationships can act as a buffer against these internalizing problems. It also examines whether a child’s sense of belonging (feeling accepted, connected, and valued) plays a mediating role in this process.
