Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly integrated into healthcare, raising concerns about biases that disproportionately impact people of colour. This study examines whether racial background influences trust in AI for medical decision-making and whether racial identity strength moderates this relationship. Contrary to expectations, findings indicate that non-White participants exhibit similar or higher trust in AI compared to White participants. These findings suggest that personal experiences with healthcare, rather than identity strength alone, may shape AI trust. Understanding how different racial groups perceive AI is crucial for equitable healthcare implementation. Future research should explore subgroup differences and strategies to improve AI transparency and foster trust across diverse populations.
