Multicultural Teamwork: Equity, Diversity and Inclusion

The UvA Cultural Exchange Ambassadors Programme is a team-based, extracurricular experience. It promotes equity in mobility, celebrates cultural diversity, and inspires students to engage with their community. You’ll have the opportunity to use your studying abroad experience (for example, participating in an exchange, summer, conference, scholarship or virtual study abroad programme) and collaborate in various teams to complete a list of challenging but fun projects.

Developing professional skills

You’ll be trained to navigate and adapt to cultural differences as an ambassador. Also, you’ll learn to apply different strategies to capitalise on the creativity and innovation of multicultural teamwork. Furthermore, you’ll develop your intercultural competence, a valuable skill for everyone who foresees a future career where you will work with a diverse group of people. The programme focuses on enhancing your self-efficacy in interacting with students from different cultures. The emphasis is on communication, equity-mindedness and inclusion. You will receive a certificate and a LinkedIn recommendation at the end of the programme.

Requirements

You’ll meet your fellow ambassadors during weekly (training)sessions with a break between the programme. You will be spending a total of around 30 hours of work on a variety of team projects. By registering, you are signing up for the entire programme.

Also, during the week of the 7th of April (till the 11th of April), there will be an EDI festival. You are expected to help out on several occasions during this festival.

The first meeting will take place on the 11th of February from 17.00 - 19.00 (REC JK 1.05).
