Borrowing a Chromebook 

You can borrow a Chromebook for one day at the information desks of the University Library Singel, the Library Learning Centre on the Roeterseiland campus (REC H), the P.C. Hoofthuis Library, and the Science Park Library. Chromebooks operate with a guest profile, giving you access to Google services (such as Google Docs), Proctorio, and the online version of Office 365. It is not possible to install your own software.

Borrowing a Windows laptop

Students of the Faculty of Science can rent a Windows 11 laptop with MS Office and Adobe Acrobat at the Science Park Library desk for a minimum of one week and a maximum of 28 days for €1 per day. You can also install your own software on these laptops.

Headphones

As a UvA student, you can borrow various useful tools, such as headphones and noise-cancelling headphones. These are available at the information desks of the libraries on the campuses.

Monitors

At the larger locations, you can use monitors. If you would like to use a mouse and/or keyboard, you can borrow them from the Library's desks at REC-H, Science Park, and the University Library Singel.

At the desk of the Library Learning Centre on Roeterseiland (REC-H) and Science Park, you can borrow HDMI cables and various adapters.

Loan conditions

• Items can be borrowed for one day and must be returned to the same library before closing time.
• Borrowing is only possible with a valid UvA student card.
• Due to limited availability, each student can borrow only one Chromebook and/or one set of headphones.
• It is not possible to reserve items.

Using a desktop

The Library offers individual study places with PCs on every campus. On these PCs you will find specific software, such as SPSS. You can find information on available software on PCs at the different library locations.
