Last modified on 13-10-2025 16:48
As a UvA student, you'll regularly be asked to provide feedback on teaching. This helps lecturers monitor and improve quality.

How to give good feedback

Provide feedback that's specific and respectful. Give concrete suggestions that lecturers can really use. When providing criticism, please make it constructive. Insulting comments are moderated before they're shared with lecturers.

How your feedback is used

After a course ends, you'll be informed in Canvas about the UvA Q results and how the feedback will be used. This allows you to see the improvements that result from student evaluations.

Anonymity

Evaluations are anonymous: lecturers cannot see who gave which answer. Only if you write something very recognisable (e.g. by describing a concrete incident or giving your name) might it be possible for a lecturer to recognise you.

Exception: student number

Sometimes you'll be asked for your student number but it's not compulsory. If you do provide your student number, it allows your study programme to analyse results in more detail.
