Who can apply?

You are eligible for a tuition fee waiver if:

• You are enrolled in a full-time programme at the UvA and you pay the statutory tuition fee. This means that students from outside the EU and students who are enrolled in a second programme for which the institutional tuition fee applies are not eligible.
• You receive an Administrative Body Membership Grant because you are serving on the board of a student organisation that is recognised by the UvA, a faculty student council, or the Central Student Council.
• You serve as a full-time board member for which you receive a minimum of 10 months of board grant from the Student Support Fund.
• You have not received a tuition fee waiver for a board year in the past.
• You sign a declaration in which you state that you will not attend any classes, sit examinations, request your degree certificate, or receive guidance in your study and research activities at the UvA or at any other government-funded higher education institution during the entire academic year in which you serve on the board.

Step-by-step guide

1. Register for your study programme via Studielink.
2. Apply for the tuition fee waiver for board members before the start of your board year. The deadline is 31 August. Please follow the sign-up procedure described below.
3. Arrange your tuition fee payment as usual before the 31 August deadline, for example by authorising a direct debit in Studielink. Please see the Tuition fee payment page for the other available payment methods.
4. If you meet all the conditions for tuition fee waiver, you will receive a refund of the tuition fees you have already paid, once your application for a minimum of 10 months of board grant has been approved.
