The UvA strategy
In our Strategy 2027-2032, we set out the course the UvA will take in the years ahead: with clear choices and concrete ambitions that make the UvA future-proof.
Technological, climate-related, geopolitical, cultural and socio-economic shifts pose significant challenges for academia. As a socially engaged university, the UvA wants to continue conducting research at the highest level and, at the same time, actively contribute to solving the urgent and complex problems of today and the future. How do we operate in that field of tension, how do we bring the two together? The Strategy 2027-2032 provides direction on that question.
How the strategy came about
The Strategy 2027-2032 was developed through a broad process involving the entire UvA community:
- 2025: building blocks gathered through conversations, theme sessions and surveys.
- Q1 2026: concrete ambitions for the coming years developed and tested with staff, students and external stakeholders.
- Q2 2026: the Executive Board adopted the strategy.
- Q3 2026 onwards: faculty-level implementation of the UvA strategy.
