Short-term at Economics and Business
UvA Economics and Business offers several short-term programmes at partner universities. These programmes allow you to gain international academic experience without participating in a full exchange programme.
On this page you will find information about:
- Blended Intensive Programmes (BIP);
- faculty-free summer school options;
- eligibility conditions, costs and application procedures.
More detailed information per programme, including dates, accommodation and estimated costs, can be found on the UvA World Map
Other short international programmes, not specific for Economics and Business, can be found here.
Blended Intensive Programme
Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs) are short, intensive programmes that combine a short study period abroad with online learning. Students gain international experience at a partner university and take part in virtual sessions before or after to build digital skills and collaborate with peers.
European Innovation & Foresight Bootcamp (BIP) at Kozminsky University
This Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) focuses on European competitiveness, innovation and foresight. Students work in international teams and collaborate with peers from partner universities across Europe. Travel costs are covered by Erasmus+ funding.

Conditions for all applicants
All applicants must meet the following conditions for the short-term faculty-free programmes:
- You are enrolled as a full-time, fee-paying student at the University of Amsterdam throughout the programme
- You will receive priority if you have not participated in, or will not participate in, an exchange programme
- You accept the Terms and Conditions for the UvA Short-Term Programme (pdf)
Please note that host universities can have additional entry requirements.
Costs
If you have been selected to one of our faculty-free programmes, the tuition fee is waived. Keep in mind that there might be additional costs, such as accommodation, food, excursions, insurance and visa, which can differ per programme. For faculty-paid programmes, the tuition fee is at your own expense.
How to apply
If you are interested in a faculty-free programme or a Blended Intensive Programme (BIP), please submit your application via the application forms.
If you are interested in a faculty-paid programme with a discount, please consult the programme details and application procedure on the UvA World Map.
For further questions, please contact the EB Exchange Office.
After application
Students will be selected by a random draw if there are more applicants than spots. The selection process is as follows:
- We check your application and decide if you meet the requirements
- We decide your priority category (we check if you have participated or will participate in an exchange programme)
- We start a lottery among the priority students (students who have not participated in an exchange have priority).
- If not all places are filled, another lottery will be held with the remaining students.
You will be excluded from the selection if you have submitted an incomplete application or if you are not a full-time, fee-paying UvA student throughout the short-term programme.
Course approval
If you would like to register the courses of the short-term programme on your UvA grade list, you need to submit a request to the Examinations Board for approval of the courses you wish to take at the host university.
- You can submit your request to the Examinations Board once you have finalised the application for the courses that you are taking abroad and if you can provide the Board with the course descriptions of the courses you applied for (including the amount of credits, the level of the courses, weekly topics and literature).
- Take note that courses passed abroad can be included in your study programme in 3 ways: as an exemption for obligatory courses, as electives or as extracurricular courses.
- It will take 6 weeks at most for the Examinations Board to process your request and communicate its decision.
