The media are full of assertions, but when is something really true? How do we determine that? Are facts always facts? How do we deal with information created by AI? And to what extent do our biases colour the way we judge information?

This workshop takes you on a voyage of discovery into the world of (dis)information and offers concrete tools to assess news and information in a (self)critical manner.

What to expect?

During the workshop, various aspects of disinformation are covered. You not only learn how to critically assess news and information, but also about different interpretations of what is truth. In addition, you will be made aware of the role biases play in assessing information.

After successfully completing this workshop, you will:

- be aware of different aspects of disinformation, and underlying concepts such as 'truth';

- have an understanding of how biases and tunnel vision influence the assessment of news;

- be able to assess news and information, both in social and traditional media;

- be able to value information generated by AI.

The workshop will consist of interactive sessions with plenty of room for questions and discussions. There are also a number of practical exercises.
