What lessons can we learn from the cautious and prophetic film Blade Runner? Looking back at Ridley Scott's film (1982) offers a powerful mirror that can help us glimpse into the future: what does it mean when artificial life confronts us with feelings of empathy?

Student association SpectrumExternal link is hosting this FilmclUB and has invited data scientist Daniël Kooij and historian Sven van Mourik to introduce the film. They take their cue from the proliferation of increasingly sophisticated artificial intelligence (AI) to explore the loss of human connection in an increasingly interconnected world.

Exclusive panel of speakers

Following the screening of the film, there will be a special panel Q&A with Katy Haber, production executive of Blade Runner, and writer/filmmaker Paul M. Sammon, author of the book 'Future Noir: the Making of Blade Runner', who was present on the set during the production of the film.
