Annual Iftar, 'Breaking bread and barriers: Muslim life on campus'

An Iftar is the daily breaking of the fast during Ramadan, the annual fasting period for Muslims that's about reflection, connection and one's relationship with Allah. During the Week against Racism, the Central Diversity Office is hosting an Iftar for all UvA students and staff.

During this Iftar, Muslims and non-Muslims will share a meal together. The event includes guest speakers who will reflect on the role of religion in secular universities and on the lives of Muslim students and staff on campus. The Iftar dinner begins at sunset. 

The programme is in Dutch. Interpreters will provide Dutch to English translation at the event.
