As a result of a data breach at Canvas supplier Instructure, which also involved data belonging to UvA users, not all pages within Canvas were fully functional. Canvas is now fully available again. The investigation into the nature and scope of the breach is still ongoing.

All Canvas functionalities available again

The affected functionalities have now been restored, and the final steps are being taken to make Perusall available again. This means that all Canvas functionalities can once again be used. It is safe to use Canvas. According to Instructure, no passwords have been compromised.

One-time notification

Please note: when using a restored page for the first time, a one-time notification will appear. You will be asked to grant permission in order to use the functionality again.

Remain vigilant for suspicious messages

Instructure’s investigation into the nature and scope of the data breach is still ongoing. This also includes investigating which data belonging to UvA users may have been involved. We therefore advise everyone to remain vigilant for possible phishing emails related to this incident.
