Staff and students contribute ideas for the Faculty of Science' future
The sessions followed an open space format: participants proposed topics that mattered to them and then explored these in small groups. More than 100 people took part in total.
Which topics were discussed?
The central question was: ‘How can the Faculty of Science develop into a more recognisable and connected faculty over the next six years, where education, fundamental science, technological research and societal challenges reinforce one another?’
During the sessions, participants proposed the following topics, among others, for discussion:
- AI in education and research: opportunities and challenges presented by AI for academic research and education.
- Visibility: how the faculty presents itself externally and the role of technological research in this.
- Interdisciplinary and societal collaboration: opportunities to connect existing initiatives and support collaboration across faculties and with societal partners.
- Recognition, rewards and career development: recognising diverse contributions and talents, including efforts to support education, diversity and inclusion.
From ideas to a strategic plan
The ideas and perspectives shared are being carefully considered to determine which can be incorporated into the Faculty Strategic Plan (FSP), and how. Some points are primarily relevant to putting the plan into practice. These will be addressed separately during its further development and implementation.
