A short introduction

My name is Ingrid and I grew up in Verona. I’m half Italian, half Dutch. Currently, I’m pursuing the Master's programme in Business Economics: Neuroeconomics track. Before that, I studied Psychology and Neuroscience at Maastricht University, including a minor at The Chinese University of Hong Kong in Business Economics and Public Health. I speak English, Dutch, and Italian. Outside of my studies, I'm into running, pilates, tennis, and generally trying out something new, as well as meeting up with friends and traveling. 

What motivated you to become a student assessor?

What appeals to me most about this role is that I can be an independent voice for students within the university. It’s a position in which I get to share what I genuinely think, rather than just represent a general consensus. I want to use that to make sure students' perspectives are part of the discussion about educational policy, while also helping students understand why faculty decisions get made the way they do. 

Which themes are important to you this year?

I believe the transition from studying to working life is an important theme this year. Both for Dutch and international students. Although the challenges can look different. International students are navigating a new country's job market, while Dutch students are often dealing with a market that feels more familiar but still competitive. It's something I hear about often. I'd like to map out more specifically where the gaps are, so I have something concrete to work from. I'm also interested in how we as students engage with AI. Everyone talks about which AI tools to use. I think the more interesting question is knowing when it actually helps and when it's better to think something through yourself, since that's a skill that won't go out of date. 

What is at the top of your agenda?

First, I want to introduce myself to the Programme Committees and the Faculty Student Council, so I get a real sense of what matters to students from the start of the year. From there, I'll bring the most important points forward in the monthly meetings with the Dean and the Educational Directors, and share my own perspective too.
