New: Creating personas in UvA Ai Chat
Persona Maker
The new Persona Maker is basically a DIY tool for creating custom AI assistants. You answer a few questions, and it generates a base instruction for your persona. Then it’s up to you to customize it in detail. You can test it out before sharing and using, and you can update it anytime.
Shareable chats (read-only)
You can share chats, files, and artifacts with other UvA students and your instructors. We encourage you to do so, and to engage in discussion with fellow students and lecturers about the use of AI within academia. Sharing is view-only, so your personal data stays private. You can revoke access whenever.
Creating documents
UvA AI Chat is able to generate files like Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and PDFs. No internet images will be scraped into these files. Remember, you are responsible to follow copyright law. If you're unsure about anything, educate yourself via the UvA Library’s Copyright Information Site.
Interactive UI
With UvA AI Chat, you can generate responses with clickable follow-up questions. This means a more guided learning experience. For example, this enables you but also lecturers to set up personas which guide responses before giving a full answer. This way, AI can support you in actually learning something instead of just reaching the dumbzone.
Fresh and friendly design
The design is cleaner and works much better on phones and tablets. The home screen is simpler, and the chat window includes sample prompts about writing, research, learning, and professional development. The search function also works across all your chats, personas, and projects.
Bug fixes
Minor updates make UvA AI Chat a more flexible, stable, and useful learning experience.
