Major study into language skills and academic success using data from UvA students
Researchers at the Amsterdam Center for Language and Communication have recently started the project Research on Educational Success, Academic Language, and Curricula in Higher Education (REACH). They are conducting a series of studies into how academic language skills develop over time, whether programme curricula offer sufficient support, and which factors matter for academic success. The goal is to contribute to evidence-informed language policy and curricula at the University of Amsterdam in order to help students study more happily, quickly and successfully.
To this end, they are using information relating student backgrounds, study success, and writing skills from Bachelor's students. They will use data from the databases at the University of Amsterdam spanning the academic years 2018/19-2028/29. All data will be pre-processed and pseudonymised prior to any analysis.
