Published on 26-10-2026 09:00
From coffee and sandwiches to Surinamese dishes, Asian meals and vegan options, the food and drink offering at the UvA will be changing from 2027. The tender processes for the catering locations have been completed, and we now know which businesses will be providing food and drink at the UvA next year.

Our vision for food and drinks

Food and drink will become more affordable, healthier and more sustainable: each provider will offer a healthy, nutritious budget option. No more than 25% of dishes will contain meat or fish, and at least 25% of the range will be organic. We will encourage responsible certification, develop healthy eating plans based on the Netherlands Nutrition Centre’s Wheel of Five, and aim to reduce food waste by 25% by 2030. Mandatory CO₂ reporting will begin next year. In addition to providing food and drink, providers will organise tastings, pilots and workshops to contribute to a vibrant campus.

New and familiar food and drink providers

New providers will be coming to the UvA, alongside some familiar names. Some will also be expanding to other locations. Together, they will offer a varied selection for a coffee break, lunch or hot meal during your study or working day. Below, you can find out which providers will be serving food and drink at each location from 2027.

Roeterseiland Campus (REC)

REC J/K

  • Wakuli will open an espresso bar serving delicious, ethically sourced coffee.
  • Haarlemse Parels will serve vegan dishes from a sustainable food truck based on circular principles.

REC A

  • Food Atelier – NomNom, known for its current food stand at REC H, will run a Deli Grab & Go shop with an espresso bar.
  • Healthy Fridge will offer fresh hot and cold meals through vending machines, also known as ‘fresh vending’.

REC C (De Brug)

  • Fit’zeria will provide cold and hot meals through fresh vending machines.

A fond farewell

Following the tender processes, we will also be saying goodbye to some familiar food and drink providers whose contracts end on 31 December 2026. We warmly thank them for their collaboration and contribution to campus life, and wish them all the best for the future.

Starting in 2027

Facility Services is working with the providers and faculties to prepare for the launch at each location. The exact start date may vary by provider and location. More information will follow once the opening dates and full range of food and drink available at each location have been confirmed.

Renovations will take place at the food and drink locations in the run-up to 2027. Locations will close for this work, and temporary alternatives will be provided. We will share more information about this soon. Horecavisie
