Exam period: 500 extra study spaces in University Quarter and Roeterseiland Campus

During the exam period from Monday 18 May until Thursday 28 May, the UvA offers extra study spaces and extended opening hours at various locations. On the weekend of 23 and 24 May and on 25 May (Whit Monday), there are approximately 500 additional study spaces available. Library locations will also remain open during Whit Monday, so you can study in a quiet place for your exams.

Weekend opening and extra study rooms

Bushuis

The Bushuis (Universiteitskwartier) will also be open on Saturday 23, Sunday 24, and Monday 25 May (Whit Monday/Pentecost) from 09:00 to 18:00. There are 335 additional study spaces available in the attic, workshop space, Kartinizaal, and rooms F1.14, F2.11B, and F2.11C. Access is only possible with a valid UvA student card.

Roeterseiland Campus

On Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 May, 165 study spots are available on the ground floor of REC E (rooms E0.03, E0.04, E0.14 and E0.15), from 9:00 to 23:00. On Monday 25 May (Whit Monday), the same rooms are available from 9:00 to 22:00.

From Tuesday 26 to Thursday 28 May, several tutorial rooms in building J/K are set up as study spaces. You can study on the ground floor daily from 8:00 to 20:00. The available rooms are: TB.16, TB.18, TB.20, TB.22 and TB.24.

Extended opening hours en open on public holidays

From Monday 18 May until Thursday 28 May, extended opening hours apply to all library locations. The University Library is open until 01:00, and the Roeterseiland Campus closes later as well, at 23:00.

During Whit Sunday and Whit Monday (24 and 25 May), the University Library, REC H (Library Learning Centre), REC E, and Science Park 904 will have extended opening hours. This allows you to study on campus during the public holidays as well.

Access rules and house rules

During exam periods, the University Library (UB) is only accessible to UvA students and staff with a valid physical pass. Students from other universities do not have access. Important: you may never occupy a study spot for another student. In addition, always use the Library's underground bicycle parking facility on Vendelstraat or the one on Roeterseiland campus. Please note: the bicycle parking facility at Roeterseiland closes at 22:30.

Do you want to study with maximum focus?

Every day from 10:00 to 22:00 you can study with fellow students in a quiet environment, guided by a host who keeps track of the Pomodoro timer and schedule. There is also a focus on relaxation to reduce stress. The sessions take place in REC H, room H1.01 on Rooster Island campus, or online via Microsoft Teams.
