Exam period 19–29 January: Library longer open

Published on 12-01-2026
During the first exam period, the Library has extended opening hours. For example, the Library in the University Quarter is open until 1:00 AM for UvA students. It can be busy, especially in the afternoons and on weekends, so check the Officebooking app for available spaces. Please park your bike in the UB’s underground parking, not outside.

Weekend

During the weekend of 24 and 25 January, the main library locations will be open for extended hours. The University Library (UB) will be open from 08:30 until 01:00 at night. The Library Learning Centre at Roeterseiland (REC H) will be accessible on all three floors from 09:00 to 22:00, and you can use Building 904 at Science Park from 09:00 to 20:00. This way, there are extra opportunities to study in a quiet environment during the exam weekend.

Stricter house rules

During exam periods, the University Library and - during weekends - the Library Learning Centre (REC) is only accessible to UvA students or staff with a valid student or staff card. Students from other universities are not allowed in. A house rule that particularly applies here: you may never occupy an extra study space for another student.

Bicycle parking

Please use the underground bicycle parking facility of the UB on Vendelstraat and avoid parking your bicycle elsewhere outside, in order to maintain accessibility and show consideration for local residents.
