From 1 January 2027, Van Zelst will provide the UvA’s coffee machines and coffee. Together with students and staff, we will choose the coffee we’ll be drinking. The coffee with the most votes will become the standard coffee in our machines.

Meet our new coffee supplier: Van Zelst 

Van Zelst supplies the coffee for our machines. This family business from Eindhoven has been specialising in workplace coffee for more than fifty years and, in addition to the coffee, also takes care of the machines, maintenance and service. Everything in one place. Quality and sustainability are top priorities at Van Zelst. You can taste that in the coffee too: their machines now serve coffee from Wonder Beans. All coffee beans used in the machines are 100% certified organic. Wonder Beans works directly with coffee farmers and uses short, transparent supply chains. This provides insight into where the coffee comes from and what price was paid for it. The beans are slowly roasted in small batches to bring out their flavours and aromas.

How the tasting works 

On 27 and 28 October, Van Zelst will visit several UvA locations as part of a coffee tasting roadshow. You’ll try two coffees side by side and use a tablet to select your favourite: coffee A or B. The Van Zelst team will be there to tell you more about the coffees, guide you through the tasting and answer your questions.
