Ceiling inspections and adjustments at REC G

For the past few days, the ceiling at REC G has looked different from what you’re used to. A number of ceiling tiles have been removed in several places. This follows an incident last week in which a ceiling tile came loose in two separate locations. No one was present in the rooms concerned at the time.

Following this incident, Facility Services immediately inspected the ceilings in all Roeterseilandcampus buildings. As a precaution, components showing even a minor irregularity were removed.

Investigation into the cause of the changes

Technical specialists are investigating what caused the changes in the ceiling components. Based on the outcome of this investigation, it will be determined which further work or measures are needed.

All ceilings under close supervision

Ceiling components that showed no irregularities at the time of inspection will remain in place. Until the cause of the changes to the components is known, inspections will be carried out every morning. If any changes are identified, the relevant components will be removed.
