As a student programmer, you will have the opportunity to work in a team with other students to organise a CLOSE UP evening every 6-7 weeks. In this recurring programme, you will be challenged to highlight a socio-cultural issue of your choice in an inventive way. Under the guidance of the VOX-POP team and various professionals from the cultural sector, you will learn to moderate, curate, design, do social media and produce a programme from start to finish. Are you excited to turn your creative ideas into exciting programmes? Then continue reading!
During VOX-POP's talent development programme, you will work with the other student programmers on your own series of programmes, culminating in an exhibition at the end of the year. You will choose your own themes, develop the content, find speakers and performances, make event scripts, take responsibility for the communication, design and promotion of the programmes, and make sure that the CLOSE UP on the night itself is organised to perfection.
Enthusiastic and curious students (all types of studies) who want to learn how to put together a topical and stimulating programme and who want to co-host the CLOSE UP series for a period of one year (September 2025- July 2026). To do this, you should be available for 4-8 hours weekly. A basic understanding of Dutch is useful, but not necessary to take part in the talent programme.
As part of the talent development programme, you will be offered various master classes and inspiration evenings to develop your skills as a programme maker. You will have great independence and responsibility in creating your own programmes, and a lot of freedom regarding your choice of topics. The working environment is very informal and during the year you will build a network within the university and the Amsterdam cultural sector.
Are you bursting at the seams with ideas for programmes and do you recognize yourself in the profile sketched out above? Then we would love to meet you! Please send us a short motivation letter and your CV before 22 July via voxpop@uva.nlExternal link, addressed to Cleo Thomas. Interviews will take place the last week of August.
