Two-step verification for Canvas: get ready

Two-step verification for Canvas: get ready

Published on 04-11-2025 16:00
Starting 19 November, two-step verification will not only be required for your UvA email and Microsoft 365 apps, but also for almost all educational systems, such as Canvas, SIS, GLASS, Course Catalogue, and the Canon Portal. You will need to use the Microsoft Authenticator app. Without two-step verification, you won’t be able to log in or access your courses, grades, or personal documents.

Set up two-step verification before 19 November

Not using the Microsoft Authenticator app yet? Set up two-step verification as soon as possible by following the instructions on student.uva.nl under Two-step verification.

Check if it still works

Have you already installed the Microsoft Authenticator app?

Tip: Add an extra device so you can always log in. Even if your phone is replaced or lost.

When this happens

Two-step verification will be rolled out gradually starting 19 November. For Canvas, it will become mandatory from 26 November.

Why this is important

Two-step verification protects your personal data from misuse and helps keep our systems secure for everyone.
