Together with conductor Jurjen Hempel and soloist Thomas Prechal, the UvA Orchestra J.Pzn Sweelinck will show how versatile an evening of classical music can be.

The concert is on Monday, 8 December at 20:15. The Dominicus Church is open from 19:45. The programme will last until around 22:30, including an intermission.

Proceeds from ticket sales

Proceeds from ticket sales will go to a special project. In February 2026, the UvA Orchestra J.Pzn Sweelinck will perform the dazzling concert 'Sinatra in Symphony' in the main hall of the Concertgebouw. This promises to be a wonderful collaboration with the Amsterdam Student Big Band and two singers. For the UvA Orchestra J.Pzn Sweelinck, this is a unique opportunity to show its versatility and bring different audiences together through the timeless music of Frank Sinatra. The project is of an unprecedented scale for the orchestra and therefore needs all the support it can get.

The UvA Orchestra J.Pzn Sweelinck consists of around seventy students who, in addition to their studies, meet every Thursday evening to rehearse and make music. From international tours to concerts in large halls: it's all part of the program, with a touch of student flair. Prepare to be surprised by a challenging program, a passionate conductor, an exceptional soloist and an orchestra full of joy.
