The 2025 Student Council elections have wrapped up! On Friday, 23 May, the Central Voting Committee announced the official results. Curious who won seats in the Central and Faculty Student Councils? And how high the turnout was this year? Read all about it below!

Central Student Council

Out of 44,621 eligible student voters, 9,593 cast their votes for the Central Student Council (CSR), a turnout of 21.5%! This is the highest percentage since 2013.The Activistenpartij UvA is once again the largest party in the CSR and wins three seats. De Vrije Student follows with two seats. UvASociaal and INTER each secure one seat. Sefa Student Party and the Vrijmoedige StudentenPartij did not receive enough votes to win a seat.

Economics and Business

In the faculty student council elections for Economics and Business, the seats were divided among De Vrije Student, UvASociaal, and Sefa Student Party. De Vrije Student came out as the largest party with no less than five seats. UvASociaal follows with three seats, and Sefa Student Party secured two seats. 020 Partij and the Activistenpartij missed out on a seat this year.

Humanities

The faculty student council elections for Humanities were won decisively by the Activistenpartij UvA, who took 8 of the 12 seats. The remaining seats were split among four parties: INTER, UvASociaal, Vrijmoedige StudentenPartij, and 020 Partij each received one seat.

Medicine

The student council at the Faculty of Medicine is divided into three subdistricts: Bachelor, Medical Informatics, and Master.

Bachelor

BIn the Bachelor subdistrict elections, Partij MFAS Bachelor came out as the largest party, winning 3 seats. The Activistenpartij follows with 2 seats, and De Vrije Student secured 1 seat.

Medical Informatics

Only Partij MFAS MI participated in the Medical Informatics subdistrict elections. They automatically receive the (only) seat in this district.

Master

Only Partij MFAS Master stood for election in the Master subdistrict. They automatically receive all three seats in this district.

Social and Behavioural Sciences

The student council at the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences is divided into three subdistricts: Social Sciences, Psychology, and Communication Science.

Subdistrict Social Science

At Social Sciences, the Activistenpartij UvA was the clear winner, securing 4 of the 6 seats. The remaining seats were divided between UvASociaal and De Vrije Student, who each took 1 seat. INTER and 020 Partij just missed out on a seat this year

Subdistrict Psychology

The Activistenpartij convincingly gained the most votes and won 3 seats in the student council. 020 Partij secured 1 seat with 99 votes. De Vrije Student narrowly missed out with 97 votes.

Subdistrict Communication

UvASociaal emerged as the winner in Communication with 246 votes and gained 2 seats in the student council. 020 Partij received 68 votes but did not secure a seat.

Faculty of Science

Votes have been counted at the Faculty of Science and LIEF is the big winner! With 766 votes, the party secured 7 seats in the faculty student council. The Activistenpartij follows with 3 seats, and De Vrije Student rounds off the council with 2 seats.

Law

Ook op de rechtenfaculteit wordt gewerkt met een districtenstelsel. Studenten PPLE konden alleen op kandidaten uit het PPLE-district stemmen.

Law

The elections at Law were closely contested, with a neck-and-neck race between the largest parties. The Founding Students came out on top with 216 votes, winning 3 seats in the student council. De Vrije Student (211 votes) and the Activistenpartij (205 votes) closely followed, each securing 2 seats. Vrijmoedige StudentenPartij took the final seat with 92 votes.

Law PPLE

The PPLE elections drew the highest turnout this year: an impressive 65.5%! INTER emerged as the big winner with 245 votes and took 3 seats in the student council. Activistenpartij UvA follows with 1 seat (143 votes), while UvASociaal narrowly missed out with 38 votes.

Dentistry (ACTA)

At Dentistry, just like previous years, only one party was on the ballot: Kies ACTA. With 441 votes, Kies ACTA won all 8 seats in the student council.
