Introducing: new Student Assesor Hollando Bangun
What does the Student Assessor do?
“I represent Law students on the Faculty Board. Every week, I join the Board in thinking about decisions that affect students. In addition, I am in contact with the Faculty Student Council (FSR), the study associations and, of course, with the students themselves.”
How do you like being a Student Assessor?
“I have already been active in many different places within the University of Amsterdam (UvA) and maintain close links with the student council (FSR), the study associations and the Faculty Board. As Student Assessor, I feel even more involved in supporting students and the various organisations within the faculty.”

What is the difference between the FSR and the Student Assessor?
“In the FSR, you work in a team, and together you form one voice towards the Faculty Board. In doing so, you take into account the positions of the other council members. As an Assessor, you work more independently: I can set my own course more often. Of course, I still ask the FSR, the study associations and the Board for input, but I am now even more deeply embedded in the faculty’s organisation. I personally really enjoy that.”
What are you focusing on this year?
“I want to make student life better. Many students do not know how enjoyable and valuable study associations and the student council are. You not only learn a great deal substantively, but you also meet people and build a network. It is a place where you can learn, grow and have fun.
In addition, I want the faculty to be an environment where everyone feels safe to speak up, and where respect and openness are central values.”
