Humanities collection PCH moves to new library location
How will this affect your study space and ability to borrow books?
From Monday 16 June, the P.C. Hoofthuis Library will move to a new location. This is in preparation for the opening of the new University Library on Vendelstraat, in the University Quarter. This means that the printed collection on the first and second floors will no longer be available for request from the date of the move. Also, from then on, there will no longer be a library desk at the PCH.

With the opening of the new location at the Vendelstraat, the Library has decided to bring the Humanities collection, which is currently spread across two locations, the Singel and the P.C. Hoofthuis, under one roof. The University Library Vendelstraat will open on 1 September, and from then the collection will again be available in an open shelving system. This open shelving contains no less than 5 kilometers of bookshelves.
Collecting and returning books
After 16 June, you can collect and return requested materials at other library locations. Please note: at the University Library Singel, this is possible up to and including 29 June. When you place a request in CataloguePlus, you will see where you can pick up the materials.
Studying in the PCH remains possible

After the library relocates from the P.C. Hoofthuis, you can still study there. A total of 127 study spaces will remain available on the ground floor:
- Room 0.13: 91 silent study spots, of which 46 have monitors
- Room 0.011a: 16 silent study spots, soon also with monitors
- Room 0.11: will be set up as a collaboration room with about 20 study spots
So you can continue to study at the PCH during the summer period and the new academic year. Prefer another location? Check the overview of study locations.
