President Stubb: “I hope we can go back down the multilateral path, because right now, in a world where we have to fight climate change, deal with development, deal with technology and artificial intelligence, doing this alone won't do it.”

Peter-Paul Verbeek, rector and interim president of the UvA, welcomed the Finnish president and his wife this afternoon at the Roeterseiland Campus. Verbeek: “The world order is shifting: geopolitical tensions are rising and technological developments are reshaping power and security. This makes it increasingly urgent to ask how we, as a society, can strengthen our resilience, how we can influence this changing world order together with international partners, and what role universities can play in that. It was inspiring to see our students discuss these questions with the President of Finland.”
