The programme combines online courses (January–May 2026) and an on-site intensive week at the University of Tours (France), from 1 to 5 June 2026. You can earn 6 credits applicable to your own degree programme. Travel costs are covered by Erasmus+ funding.
The course introduces you to Esperanto as a living case study of equitable and transnational communication applied to many fields. It connects disciplines such as linguistics, philosophy, history, sociology, geography, and literature, inviting you to explore how language can shape equality and cultural exchange across borders.
You can apply if you follow a Bachelor's or Master's degree at the Faculty of Humanities or the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences. No prior knowledge of Esperanto is required; an introductory language course is included.
You can apply until 15 November by sending a short motivation letter of 10-20 lines to Frederico Gobbo, f.gobbo@uva.nlExternal link.
