Participate in the UvA Trust Dynamics Study

Published on 22-08-2024
To what extent do people within the UvA trust each other and external parties? And how do societal issues and the media environment shape this trust? The Trust Research Priority Area (RPA) wants to find out. You are therefore invited to participate in their Trust Dynamics Study.

What is your study programme?

As a part of our UvA community, your insights and experiences are crucial for understanding the dynamics of trust within our university. Recent internal and external events have revealed a potential erosion of trust among people and groups within our community and beyond. The complex mix of factors behind this development isn’t yet fully understood and needs to be measured empirically.

The Trust Research Priority Area (RPA)External link is therefore conducting a study into the factors that influence the dynamics of trust. They are an independent and bottom-up collective of UvA researchers who study trust dynamics in the digital society. This study will take only 10 to 15 minutes and can easily be filled out.

Because this is a longitudinal study, the RPA will contact you again in six months and a year.

Why take this survey?

By taking this survey, you are helping the RPA better understand the factors that influence trust within the UvA. This understanding is important if we want to (re)create a healthy and cohesive community by restoring and growing trust among our students, staff, and others involved.

More information

The questionnaire was designed to ensure maximum privacy for each participant and prevent any possibility of deanonymization. The Ethics Committee of the UvA Faculty of Law approved the research, and the RPA consulted multiple stakeholders to identify possible biases and ensure the neutrality of the survey questions.

The RPA is committed to sharing its data, analytics process, and results with the wider UvA community and to discussing the results within this community. Please contact the members of the RPA directly by sending an email to trust-rpa@uva.nlExternal link for any comments, questions, or complaints.
