Together with you, the Faculty of Science wants to be an inclusive community where everyone feels welcome and valued. In addition, the Faculty of Science is looking for ways to increase diversity within our community. Do you have an idea to promote inclusiveness or increase diversity? What is your study programme?

What does it entail?

You can apply for financial support for different types of activities, such as a symposium, cultural or social activities, PR materials or a project with high school students; surprise us!

We particularly value initiatives that have a sustainable or transferable impact. That is, projects that are not only relevant to the individuals involved, but that benefit the wider Faculty of Science-community, now and in the future. For example, projects that contribute to awareness of diversity and inclusion within research and education or inspiring projects that make diversity and inclusion at the faculty more visible.

Send in your project proposal!

A summary proposal should consist of:

  • Project name
  • The applicants (students and/or staff)
  • Project description (no longer than one page): what is your goal, what impact are you aiming for and how do you plan to achieve it?
  • Budget request with justification
  • Timeframe

The proposed project should have a start and end date, after which a short report should be made on the progress of the project and the costs incurred. The budget allocated is for material costs only, and not for personnel costs. Budget per project can be between €500 and €5,000; total available budget is €25,000.

Your proposal will be assessed by the Grassroots committee, consisting of:

  • Dean Faculty of Science, Peter van Tienderen
  • Diversity officer Faculty of Science, Boy Menist
  • Student nominated by the FSR

If you have a proposal, send it no later than Monday 8 April 2024 to Heleen Verlinde, h.e.w.verlinde@uva.nl.External link You can also ask her any questions you may have.
