Student Assessor Clara van Vliet

The vacancy for student assessor at Economics and BusinessExternal link is now open for applications until 28 May. We spoke with current student assessor Clara van Vliet about her experiences and why you should apply for this role.

What did you learn in your role as student assessor?

As student assessor I represented the students’ perspective in the process of developing educational policy at Economics and Business. I was able to contribute to important discussions and decisions. The role taught me a lot about the importance of student representation. I noticed that the student voice is highly valued. I felt encouraged to share my thoughts and perspectives, even in meetings with people who had significantly more experience. Overall, being involved in the policy making processes was a very insightful and valuable experience. It gave me more insight in how a large organization such as the university operates.

What achievements are you most proud of?

I was involved in many long-term policy processes, so it is difficult to pinpoint one achievement. If I had to name one thing, it would be my contribution to the social safety policy. I think it is one of the most important things to safeguard as a university.

Why should students consider applying for this role?

You should definitely consider applying for this role if you’re passionate about contributing to the educational quality of not only your own study programme, but all study programmes at Economics and Business. If you’d like to represent students and voice your thoughts and ideas in meetings with for example the dean and the educational directors, you should certainly apply!
