The current UvA policy states that study programmes may not (yet) allow tools such as ChatGPT to be actively used by students and lecturers for teaching and assessment purposes. Nevertheless, many students use it, even though they often don’t know how it works exactly and what its limitations are. Therefore, this e-module focusses on the responsible use of AI tools in education.
The interactive e-module consists of texts, knowledge clips and short quizzes. It provides information on the UvA policy regarding AI and the UvA fraud and plagiarism regulations, it explains what ChatGPT is and how Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) and Large Language Models (LLMs) work, it provides an overview of the limitations and ethical issues surrounding GenAI, and it offers tips for using GenAI responsibly in education. It takes about 45-60 minutes to complete the e-module.
