Perhaps you have already seen a news item about it before the summer break. From 4 September, we will stop using disposable cups at the UvA and switch to ‘Bring Your Own’. So let’s all start the new academic year with a new routine. Bring your own cup for your coffee or tea!

Keys, check. Mobile phone, check. Cup, check!
In future, you won’t step out of the door without your own reusable cup. It will take some time getting used to it but it will have a big positive impact for the environment. In the past year, we used over 2 million cups at the UvA! On average, those cups were discarded after 10 minutes. That is all in the past now! Reusable cups can be used many times and when all students use them that avoids a huge pile of rubbish!
Don’t have your own cup yet?
From 4 to 8 September, the UvA will be handing out a number of free reusable cups to students. You can pick them up at special stands at various UvA locations upon presenting your student ID card. The free cups only will be available for as long as stock lasts. Check here where you can pick one up.
You can also buy a reusable cup at our restaurants and espresso bars and from the SchoolSupply vending machines.
