Rooms in Amsterdam

How do I find a room?

  • About half of the student housing in Amsterdam is owned by the housing associations.
  • Housing associations are non-profit institutions that rent out affordable housing. Their student housing is rented out with a campus contract, which means that you can rent until you have completed your study.
  • In How to find a room (link below), you can find all information about your options in Amsterdam and surroundings.

Studentenwoningweb

The housing of the associations is offered via the student housing website Studentenwoningweb. Rooms are allocated on the basis of the length of time registered, so it is wise to register as soon as possible. That is possible from your 16th birthday and requires a one-off payment of €38. Your registration is valid for eight years.

ROOM

ROOM is the platform for student housing in the urban regions of Amsterdam, Delft, The Hague, Deventer, Leiden, Haarlem and Wageningen. From the age of 16, you can register for €35.

Woningnet

The remaining (non-student) housing of associations is rented out via the Dutch housing website Woningnet. These homes are also allocated on the basis of the length of time registered.

When registering you pay one-off registration costs and subsequently pay an annual fee in order to extend your registration. You must be at least 18 years old in order to register.
