Social media is something we can hardly live without, but how social is it exactly? Previous studies show mixed results on the association between social media and loneliness, does it help or hinder in combating loneliness?

This is especially interesting to look at through the lens of LGBTQIA+ individuals who reportedly use social media more than their straight counterparts. This adds another layer: How, if at all, is coming out related to both these topics?

This study aims to clarify these associations and add to the scarce literature surrounding LGBTQIA+ individuals.
