This study validates the Directed Anger Questionnaire (DirAQ), a 16-item tool designed to measure trauma-related anger toward perpetrators in individuals with PTSD. Using data from 114 male forensic outpatients, exploratory factor analysis revealed three dimensions: Rumination and Arousal, Revenge Fantasies and Urges, and Perceived Harm. Together they explain 60.6% of the variance. The DirAQ demonstrated strong internal consistency, excellent test–retest reliability, and solid evidence of convergent validity. These findings provide preliminary psychometric support for the DirAQ as a tool for assessing directed anger in PTSD in forensic settings, offering clinicians a more targeted tool to inform treatment.
